CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

The Cannes International Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France. It previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world. It was founded in 1946, and it is the most prestigious film festival in the world. The Cannes Film Festival is held annually (usually in May) at the Palais des Festivals et des Congres.

The Cannes Film Festival has its origins in the late 1930s. In 1947, the festival was held as the "Festival du film de Cannes", where films from sixteen countries were presented.
At that time the principle of equality was introduced, with a jury made up of only one representative per country. The festival is now held at the Palais des Festivals, expressly constructed for the occasion. The festival was not held in 1948 and 1950 on account of budgetary problems. Although its origins may be attributed in part to the French desire to compete with Autumn's Venice Film Festival, in 1951 Cannes was moved to Spring to avoid a Fall clash.

The most prestigious award given out at Cannes is the Palme d'Or ("Golden Palm") for the best film.

The 2013 Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 15 to May 26, 2013. The President of the Jury will be the American film director Steven Spielberg. The Great Gatsby movie, whose director is Baz Luhrmann, will open the Cannes Film Festival 2013.

THE WEIRDEST CELEBRITY BEAUTY SECRETS

Demi  Moore
Demi Moore looks impossibly young for her 50 years. Could this be why? In a 2008 Letterman appearance, the actress admitted to indulging in a “leech therapy” detox. “It detoxifies your blood,” she explained. “And they have a little enzyme that when they’re biting down on you, gets released into your blood and generally you bleed for quite a bit. And your health is optimized. It detoxifies the blood and I’m feeling detoxified right now.”

Sienna is into icy facial treatments, too (maybe these ladies are onto something?). The actress credits her good skin to London facialist  Una Brennan’s method. “It’s a pretty intense experience: she uses freezing ice masks that make you feel as if your brain is going to fall out of the top of your head. You look wonderful afterwards, though.”

Julia Roberts
Julia Roberts soaks her fingernails in olive oil for a few minutes once a week, according to the Model Beauty Tips website. The olive oil moisturizes your nails without making them weak. It will also soften your cuticles and helps to prevent hang nails.

Catherine Zeta Jones
Catherine Zeta Jones brushes her teeth with mashed strawberries, according to the Model Beauty Tips website. Strawberries contain malic acid, which will remove some of the surface discoloration on your teeth. Mix one strawberry with 1/2 tsp. baking soda, and leave it on for five minutes. You should not do this more than once a week, because of the acidity, according to the Fit Watch website.

Tyra Banks and Jessica Alba
Tyra Banks and Jessica Alba are fans of Vaseline. They use it anywhere, from their feet to their face, according to the Model Beauty Tips website. Vaseline also keeps your lips and the skin under your eyes hydrated. Use it for pushing back your cuticles, too.
