FILM REVIEWS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

TV Series you should watch

SUITS

I haven’t really found any good TV series lately, they all look alike. But of course, there always are exceptions. Like Suits, one of the few good TV series I’ve seen. It’s certainly something new, refreshing the boring and dull American series which lose themselves in the too long story.
While running from a drug deal gone bad, Mike Ross, a brilliant young college-dropout, slips into a job interview with one of New York City's best legal closers, Harvey Specter. Harvey takes a gamble and hires Mike on the spot after he recognizes his raw talent and photographic memory. Mike and Harvey are a winning team. Even though Mike is a genius, he still has a lot to learn about law. And while Harvey may seem like an emotionless, cold-blooded shark, Mike's sympathy and concern for their cases and clients will help remind Harvey why he went into law in the first place.
Suits is smart, sassy, clever, sophisticated, timely and incredibly entertaining. If you’re looking for a show that will keep you awake, this is it. I bet you’ll be amazed. You’ll never find yourself bored, and you won’t be able to wait till the next episode.

Films not to watch

Dark Shadows

When hearing the name of Tim Burton, you expect to be amazed, to be stunned. The cast guided by Johnny Depp, continuing with Michelle Pfeiffer and ending with Helena Bohnam Carter can’t be more attractive. You can’t wait to see this film, and you end up with the biggest disappointment you could get. The story sounds interesting, but seeing it on the screen, not so much.
In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet-or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets.
I really liked all the previous Tim Burton  works, but this one was a disaster. Burton spent so much effort and time worrying about making this film Gothic and off pace, stuffing his favorite actors into the film even though half of their parts were pointless, he forgot he was making a film. There are hardly any entertaining moments, an extremely weak plot, and some very average acting. Sure, Johnny Depp may be a brilliant actor, but there's only so much an actor can do to salvage an immensely boring film. For me this movie was only a waste of time, and I don’t recommend it to anyone.

The Silence of the Lambs

Brilliant best movie of 1991 that never gets old. One of the greatest movies of all time starring the legendary Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster. The movie is a great psychological thriller, drama and mystery story.

The movie tells us about a young FBI cadet (Jodie Foster-Oscar winner) who is sent to interview a captured madman (Anthony Hopkins-Oscar winner), to find out a serial killer who strips the skin from his female victims after they die. At the heart of the movie are the confrontations between Jodie and Hopkins. They play a complicated chess match of words  which results in some of the greatest footage ever captured for the cinema.

The movie kept me trembling on the edge of the couch until the very last minute. My recommendation will be short. You must add this movie on your must-watch list! My rating is 10 of 10 stars. This is a movie that wraps itself around you and you will probably never be able to shake some of the key elements you have seen in this amazing masterpiece.

CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

The Cannes International Film Festival, is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France. It previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world. It was founded in 1946, and it is the most prestigious film festival in the world. The Cannes Film Festival is held annually (usually in May) at the Palais des Festivals et des Congres.

The Cannes Film Festival has its origins in the late 1930s. In 1947, the festival was held as the "Festival du film de Cannes", where films from sixteen countries were presented.
At that time the principle of equality was introduced, with a jury made up of only one representative per country. The festival is now held at the Palais des Festivals, expressly constructed for the occasion. The festival was not held in 1948 and 1950 on account of budgetary problems. Although its origins may be attributed in part to the French desire to compete with Autumn's Venice Film Festival, in 1951 Cannes was moved to Spring to avoid a Fall clash.

The most prestigious award given out at Cannes is the Palme d'Or ("Golden Palm") for the best film.

The 2013 Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 15 to May 26, 2013. The President of the Jury will be the American film director Steven Spielberg. The Great Gatsby movie, whose director is Baz Luhrmann, will open the Cannes Film Festival 2013.

THE WEIRDEST CELEBRITY BEAUTY SECRETS

Demi  Moore
Demi Moore looks impossibly young for her 50 years. Could this be why? In a 2008 Letterman appearance, the actress admitted to indulging in a “leech therapy” detox. “It detoxifies your blood,” she explained. “And they have a little enzyme that when they’re biting down on you, gets released into your blood and generally you bleed for quite a bit. And your health is optimized. It detoxifies the blood and I’m feeling detoxified right now.”

Sienna Miller
Sienna is into icy facial treatments, too (maybe these ladies are onto something?). The actress credits her good skin to London facialist  Una Brennan’s method. “It’s a pretty intense experience: she uses freezing ice masks that make you feel as if your brain is going to fall out of the top of your head. You look wonderful afterwards, though.”

Julia Roberts
Julia Roberts soaks her fingernails in olive oil for a few minutes once a week, according to the Model Beauty Tips website. The olive oil moisturizes your nails without making them weak. It will also soften your cuticles and helps to prevent hang nails.

Catherine Zeta Jones
Catherine Zeta Jones brushes her teeth with mashed strawberries, according to the Model Beauty Tips website. Strawberries contain malic acid, which will remove some of the surface discoloration on your teeth. Mix one strawberry with 1/2 tsp. baking soda, and leave it on for five minutes. You should not do this more than once a week, because of the acidity, according to the Fit Watch website.

Tyra Banks and Jessica Alba
Tyra Banks and Jessica Alba are fans of Vaseline. They use it anywhere, from their feet to their face, according to the Model Beauty Tips website. Vaseline also keeps your lips and the skin under your eyes hydrated. Use it for pushing back your cuticles, too.

FASHION

Fashion

Fashion is a general term for a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture.
Fashion refers to a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style with which a person dresses, as well as to prevailing styles in behaviour. Fashion also refers to the newest creations of textile designers. "Fashion" means clothing more generally and the study of it. Although aspects of fashion can be feminine or masculine, some trends are androgy.
